FLOW STATE
A 3-month group journey of courageously dancing with shame toward our most creative expression
October - December 2025
Shame left in isolation becomes toxic.
But when it’s brought to light in an environment of care, resource, and awe…something changes.
I’ve experienced it firsthand:
For years I struggled with toxic shame.
It started as an internal broken record telling me I wasn’t enough.
It became chronic anxiety, panic attacks, fatigue, and troubled sleep. A growing void that affected my ability to connect with myself and my loved ones.
I threw everything at the shame — meditation, therapy, affirmations, supplements, and sooo many herbs.
But it wasn’t until I tapped into what I most enjoy doing that I figured out how to simplify my approach, aligning with what my body was telling me, instead of bypassing the message.
From then on, I’ve a different relationship with shame, one that feels courageous, liberating, and infinitely creative!
What if shame stopped being a question of worth or belonging — and became an initiation into the next level of your creative practice?
Would you answer the call?
FLOW STATE is a 3-month journey learning the interconnected intelligences of our plant allies, our bodies, and our unique gifts.
Join me, spiritual and clinical herbalist Peregrine Bermas, and a small cohort of curious earthlings invested in re-patterning toxic shame for more space, clarity, and creative flow.
We begin October 2025!
Across 3 months, you will:
Understand how shame shows up in your body
Work with plant medicine to become more response-able to your body
Learn when and how to adapt your approach for more spacious possibility
Practice telling your story in a way that heals
And then, surrender to a new flow state
Create, adapt, and live a holistic support plan for re-patterning shame…and feel more like you.
This program is for you if:
You’re committed to making daily shifts toward a new relationship with shame
You have a sense of your creative calling, but shame is stopping you from taking the next step
You looked up some herbs, maybe even did a whole herbalism program, but get stuck on how to put them to work in an effective protocol (how long to work with them? how much to take? where even to get them — who are we boycotting again?!)
You’re tired of referrals to specialists and supplements that don’t address the spiritual components of chronic health issues like muscle tension, constipation, anxiety
You’d benefit from the support of a small virtual group setting
Note: Some familiarity with herbal medicine or other healing modality is recommended, but not necessary.
Hi, I’m Peregrine Bermas.
I’m an herbalist and founder of Dirt & Free Herbal Arts — a practice centering queer, gender expansive, racialized, and disabled community members with seasonal and culturally-responsive herbal medicine, herbalism courses, and 1-on-1 consultations in Durham NC and beyond.
I work with herbs both clinically and as our wise relatives. Plants have co-evolved alongside us for millennia. They know us. And they can help us back to our humanity and interconnectedness with all living beings, remedying the devastating isolation enforced by empire.
In my experience going from the depths of toxic shame to finding curiosity at its first sign, I’ve learned that truly breaking free from shame is an ongoing re-commitment to the most creative and expansive versions of ourselves.
This is an invitation to dance in the cracks of our ecosystems, and we can choose the song.
